Hi everyone! My name is Kevin Miranda Santa Cruz and I was born in Cusco (Peru) in 1992.

Education

I got my Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering at San Antonio Abad University of Cusco in Peru, focusing on Fluid mechanics and Machinery design. I obtained my engineer degree with the thesis ``Birds-based mechanism for Flapping Wing Drone'' in 2017. My eagerness for Fluid Mechanics took me to study a Master in Fluid Engineering for Industrial processes at INSAT & ENSEIHT in Toulouse (France), which I completed in September 2019 with the thesis entitled ``3D DNS of the motion of a helical body using the Immersed Boundary Method'', which helps to study numerically the solid-fluid interaction applied to natural and artificial microorganisms helically propelled in a Stokes regime.

Research

My research during the next three years will be focused on the Simulation of Particle-droplet interaction in turbulent three phase flows to be performed as a PhD Early Stage Researcher in the University of Udine (Italy). As a grantee of the COMETE project I will spend half part of the project at Euro Heat Pipes in Nivelles (Belgium) giving me the chance to couple the theoretical and numerical tools developed in the Multiphase Flow Laboratory into the industry. Nominated as recipient of Work Package 3 (WP3) my principal objectives for this project are:
- Solve three-phase (particles+droplets+carrier fluid) flow configurations of industrial interest in a computationally efficient way
- Test a multi-scale approach based on droplet-interface capturing and Lagrangian tracking in dispersed liquid-liquid flows
- Receive advanced training on Euler-Lagrange methods for industrial three-phase flows.
